We Love Utah Jazz Games!

Two days before the Utah Jazz home opener for the 2013-14 season, Tim was offered 4 tickets to the game.  We have been offered these tickets before (by the same person), and Tim took that opportunity to take the three oldest (this was before Sarah even left on her mission).  Pecking order right?

These weren't any ordinary tickets.  On the floor (four rows back), complimentary dinner before the game, and snacks at half time (at this point, what Taylor cares about the game and is focused on the food?).

Second offering of tickets, and we decided that it would be fun to let the younger kids go to the game.  Tim was busy with church stuff, so Becky got to take them.  Yea for Bishop stuff, right?

The kids (Anna, Will, and Alice) and I left plenty early.  Everyone was excited to go, as we had all been through the older kids going, and how excited they were we]hen they got home from the game.

After getting to the game, and about to head down to the dinner, a man and woman approached us, asking if William would like to be part of a game?  As they rattled off the details, I was sure that this was a business ploy to get me to buy something.  I tuned them out.  After they re-explained themselves, I realized that Will was being given a chance-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Details went like this:  during the 2nd Utah Jazz timeout, Will and one other boy would go out to center court, where $1000 would be scattered in a rectangle no bigger than 20' x 10'.  At the sound of the bell, the two boys were given free reign to collect as much of that money as they could.  No strings attached.

While eating dinner, the competetive "Taylor blood" got rolling and we made some phone calls to Nate and Ben to get advice.  They definitely knew how to be most successful (stuff the money down a tucked in shirt, stake your claim in one area and just concentrate on getting as much money as possible).  William no longer cared about food at this point.  He was imagining in his mind how he was going to collect lots, and lots of money.

As the game started, we made our way over to the hallway where the cheerleaders and Utah Jazz bear wait their turn to perform on court.  Will and the other boy were given a cool Jazz tshirt to wear, and we quickly tucked that in (we wanted Will to look sharp, right?).  As the 2nd timeout was called, the announcer detailed out what these two boys would be doing and gave them the starting bell.  that 30 seconds seemed to pass by way too quickly.  But, Will's shirt looked stuffed full.  In fact, so full that he earned himself a cool $279!  As we made our way back to our seats, Will was fanning himself with all of his money and kids surrounding our seats were just staring with glazed over looks.  Will was one happy guy.  Anna and Alice were good sports about it, even though they wanted me to "make" will share his spoil.  No way  Not on this one.

And, to add a cherry on top-we got a call from the creator of this event, letting us know that they were matching the amount Will earned and putting it in a bank account.  Total for the night was $558.

A night never to be forgotten.
