And yet another package of bees was purchased this week...

Yes, we are starting all over again without bees. AGAIN. This is the third time, the third spring, that we have had to start with a new queen, a new package of bees. We have lost the last two hives to moisture and mold. It was another spring of sadness when we pried back the lid of our hive to find all of our bees dead. So sad...

Tim and I really want to make this a hobby-we really enjoy beekeeping together. So, we bought another package of bees this weekend. There are two kinds of breeds you can buy in our area, and we bought the kind we had the first year we had bees. They seemed less aggressive, and are more hardy through the winter.

Today we checked out the new hive and their progress. They are extremely busy cleaning out the "mess" the old hive left. We saw a bee carrying out a dead bee with its' legs...we have seen them regurgitating wax from the hive that is apparently bad...Bees are simply an amazing insect!

We are so glad to be back in the bee business, and hope that we have solved our moisture problem for this new hive!
