Valentine's Day

I can't believe that kids in elementary school ask each other to be their Valentine's!  When Nate asked a girl in 6th grade, I thought it was just Nate-a boy that like girls.  All girls.  But, our youngest kids act as if this is the norm, not the exception.  What bravery...I never could have done that at their age.
Of course, Will got his head on straight and thought better of it in the end.  He didn't need a "valentine" to get candy.  Alice started a note to ask a boy, but never finished.  Anna followed through with it, and got a candy ring in the end.  At least the process ends with something simple, not life-sized teddy bears and engagement rings.  Ha.  We'll save that for junior high.
